It Takes A Team

When it comes to taking action, we are better together - Having a strong support network helps us to feel empowered and supported while ensuring that our actions make a bigger impact.

You don’t need to be an athlete to have a team! Your team might include:

Self

YOU are an important member of your team! You are responsible for self-care and for asking for help when you need it.

Family

Your family is responsible for your most fundamental needs – Love, shelter, food, clothing. While family can mean different things to different people, it is generally through your family that some of the most important learning and growth takes place.

School

School is an important place for all kinds of learning, so the people you meet there play a big role in your growth and development.

Co-curricular

The activities you take part in outside of school – whether it’s a sport, a club, a job, or a volunteer opportunity – help you to connect with others based on shared interests and commonalities.

Community

This can include your neighbourhood, local youth centre, your place of worship, and/or your cultural community. You are connected to these people based on shared identities, beliefs, or location.

Social Media/Online communities

These are the people you meet or interact with online, whether you know them in person or not. They can be the people you play video games with, the people you follow on Instagram, or the people you chat with on message boards. While online communities are a major feature of modern life, it is important to remember that they cannot replace genuine human connection.
